The Center’s staff consists of a Director, a Coordinator of the Lower School Enrichment Program, and a Coordinator of Middle School CAL. The Parent Lending Library, located in the Lower School, includes a lending library of over 600 videos, audiotapes, and print materials.

Tutorial Support Program: |
|
Students who need additional support can receive one-on-one tutoring during the school day to remediate deficits in the core areas or reading, writing or math, or to strengthen concepts taught in the classroom. The cost of the tutoring is separate from tuition. Having Steward’s tutors on campus allows for additional communication. In the Middle and Upper School teachers routinely provide the tutors with lesson plans that assist in guiding the sessions.

The Robins Tutoring Scholarship Fund is an endowed scholarship fund used to cover the costs of tutoring for students needing financial assistance. The Robins Tutoring Scholarship Fund allows students who need tutoring to receive the help they need, regardless of financial limitations. For questions regarding the Scholarship, please contact Charlene Wilton, Director of CAL.
Additionally, CAL offers structured after-school Study Halls for Middle and Upper School students. Although these study halls do not take the place of one-on-one tutoring, they do give students the structured time to study and develop good homework habits. The Parent Resource Center (PRC): |
| The Parent Resource Center (PRC) is a lending library with books, videotapes, and audiotapes of materials relating to parenting and educating children with diverse needs. Community members as well as Steward families can check out the materials. When needed the coordinator provides referrals to community resources to assist families. CAL also maintains and houses a Teacher Resource Library with books, tapes, and videos. For more information, please contact Suzanne Casey. |
The Lower School Enrichment Program: |
| The Enrichment Coordinator works with teachers, students, and parents to find and provide resources and programs for students with academic gifts and talents. The Coordinator of the Lower School Enrichment Program, Suzanne Casey, works with classroom teachers and division heads to identify students with academic talents and gifts, and she assists in providing enrichment activities and opportunities to all students. By consulting with other area Talented and Gifted (TAG) providers, the Coordinator has been able to link parents to a wide variety of resources. In addition, the Coordinator sets up and coordinates the school's involvement with the Mathematics and Science Center, serves as the liaison for the Johns Hopkins Talent Search, and researches enrichment programs. The Coordinator communicates information to parents through the Lower, Middle, and Upper School Newsletters. |
Coordinator of Middle School CAL : |
| The Coordinator, Toni Rennie, works with Middle School students, faculty, and parents regarding learning styles and study skills. She works with students to help in identifying and using study strategies and organization techniques that match their learning styles. |
Diagnostic and Assessment Program: |
| The Director of CAL, Charlene Wilton, oversees the administration of group standardized testing. In addition, on-site evaluations for individual students are available to assess cognitive aptitude, information processing and learning styles, achievement and skill development, and speech and language development. The Director can guide parents to community resources for assessment in other areas as well. |
