"When people drive by and see the Cramer Center for the Arts...they look up and think about how tall, powerful, and beautiful it is. This power is transferred to the students through the activities and programs offered in the Cramer Center."

The Paul R. Cramer Center for
the Arts opened in the fall of 2002, establishing a dramatic focal point
for the rapidly-growing campus of The Steward School. Named for former
Headmaster Paul R. Cramer, the Center is one of the finest creative arts
facilities in central Virginia and includes what is likely the finest
school-centered theatre in the Richmond area. The Center was designed
to house multiple arts disciplines at The Steward School, including theatre,
visual arts, music, and dance. The highlight of the facility is a 500-seat
proscenium theatre featuring upper and lower orchestra seating. The theatre’s
stage is 38 feet deep and features a sprung performance floor with a stage
trap and an orchestra pit lift. It is designed to showcase plays, musicals,
and individual or group events.
The Paul R. Cramer Center for the Arts also includes:
