Athletics at Steward

Beginning with Middle School, The Steward School’s Athletics program focuses on team values, skill building, and sportsmanship. Extensive for a school the size of Steward, the program reflects a high level of student interest and involvement. More than 80% of the Middle School and Upper School student body elect to participate on a sports team.

At all levels, coaching focuses on giving students the training and experience necessary to develop a life-long appreciation of the skills and commitment involved in Athletics.

In grades 6 through 12, Steward has 37 teams. Steward competes in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference (VCC) and the League of Independent Schools (LIS). In addition to its high participation rate, Steward Athletics boasts a winning tradition, including three state championships at the varsity level.
