A Celebration of Jazz, April 11: Please Join Us
The Steward School invites you to join us for "Art Inspires Art: A Celebration of Jazz," featuring the music of jazz musician Stephen Norfleet, as well as the unveiling of jazz-inspired wood-block prints by multimedia artist Steve A. Prince. These artists-in-residence have worked with Steward students to bring this one-of-a-kind evening to life; artist and student performances and readings will incorporate the history of jazz—from the foundations of jazz music, improvisation, and modern jazz to the influence in American culture as we see and hear it today. It is an evening that any artist or lover of the arts won’t want to miss. Find out more by clicking here.

New Artist on Exhibit The Steward School is proud to welcome Beverly Perdue as the next artist on exhibit in the Art Gallery. Her exhibit is up and runs through February 29. From the very beginning she enjoyed painting “en plein air,” which means "on location" painting. She has painted in New Mexico, Arizona, Mohegan Island Maine, Arizona, Province France, Grand Mayan Island in New Brunswick, Tuscany Italy, and Anguilla Island in the Caribbean to name a few. “Painting in the natural light of a fabulous place is magical. The light is what I try to interpret, a mood for the viewer to translate. This is my goal in painting." Mrs. Perdue has been published in several magazines as well as showing her work in National and International Galleries. Join us for the Artist Reception on January 30, 3-8pm.

She will suggest ways to: • Influence our children’s behavior—without controlling it • Predict and prevent challenging behavior • Let go of time-outs, groundings, spankings, and other punishments • Teach by example—show and tell our children how they are expected to behave.
