Dear Steward community,

It is with a heavy heart that I write to you upon hearing that Governor Northam has ordered that all schools be closed through the end of this academic year. While I am still processing the news, I want to let you know that The Steward School will comply with this directive, and we will also continue with our continuous learning program.

I want to assure you that we will make every effort to reschedule some of the special end-of-year programming for all students, but especially for our seniors, who have worked so hard to reach the end of their high school careers. This is a challenging time for all students, from our effervescent JK and kindergartners to our stellar seniors, not to mention our faculty, administration, and parents. We’re all going to have to hang in there together and figure it out.

In the meantime, today was day one! Our students and faculty survived the first day of continuous learning, and we will be monitoring its successes and challenges, and making changes if need be. We will also continue to modify as many of our community events as possible to either be done virtually or, in some cases, moved to this summer or fall.

I’d like to thank you once more for your patience as we figure out this new arrangement. While I am disappointed, I am finding strength in our 2019-20 school year theme, resilience. If ever there was an appropriate theme, this is it! Our Spartan spirit is being put to the test, but that doesn’t mean we can’t share a community feelingā  — I hope you’ll check out this hot-off-the-press “resilience is” poster. Print it, fill it out, and post your photos on stewardschool.org/spartan-resilience...let’s share the ways we are coping!

In the meantime, we will continue to update you as we have information, all of which will be archived on our Announcements page. As always, please share with us your questions and concerns.

Sincerely,

Dan Frank signature
