Coach Bacile Featured on The Basketball Teacher Podcast
Athletics Assistant and varsity girls basketball coach Kara Bacile appears on radio show to discuss coaching philosophy.
"It's crazy where an orange ball can take you in life," Athletics Assistant and varsity girls basketball coach Kara Bacile recently said on The Basketball Teacher Podcast. Coach Bacile appeared as a featured guest on the show, which describes itself as "helping coaches grow basketball players on and off the court."
During the interview, Coach Bacile described the arc of her playing career, detailing her recruitment out of Monacan High School to play DIII ball Franklin & Marshall College. Desiring to stay in the game after her college career, she chose to earn a master's degree in sports leadership from VCU. While there, she was able to work with the University of Richmond's women's basketball team, an experience that helped shape her passion for coaching.
"You almost feel indebted to it," she said, describing the opportunities she received as a basketball player and coach. "You want to be able to give back."
And give back she has. After helping coach her high school alma mater to a state championship, Coach Bacile joined The Steward School and, in just three years as head coach, has already led our varsity girls to clinching both a state and conference championship. We are so fortunate to have Coach Bacile mentoring our student-athletes; her humility and basketball acumen are unparalleled!
