Standout Spartan: Noah Nichols '20

Noah Nichols's '20 senior year at Steward was nothing short of momentous. He won his third and fourth state championships in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke, earning All-American honors in both events. Later, Noah was named Boys Swimmer of the Year across all three state divisions before heading off to swim at the University of Virginia. We expected big things from Noah, and he hasn't failed to deliver on those expectations in his first year post-Steward!

Noah's performance in Friday's ACC Men's Swimming Championships propelled him to a #4 ranking among 17-18-year-old swimmers. On Friday morning, he set a UVA school record (and personal best) for the 100-yard breaststroke at 52.09 seconds. Although that record was topped by another UVA swimmer later that morning, Noah reclaimed the record once again in the afternoon, finishing his 100-yard breaststroke heat in 51.36 seconds. Beyond claiming the new UVA record, Noah's finish now stands as the second-fastest time for the 100-yard breaststroke in the ACC!

According to SwimSwam, Noah's speedy finish makes him the fifth fastest college freshman ever in the 100-yard breaststroke event. He also finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke, giving him the eighth fastest time among 17-18-year-olds in ACC history.

Since joining the Wahoos, Noah has lowered his personal best by more than five seconds, and his impressive showing thus far is making waves in the NCAA. Today, he stands fifth overall among NCAA DI swimmers in the 100-yard breaststroke and 11th in the 200-yard breaststroke.

In short, he's continuing to dominate just as he did here at Steward. Congratulations, Noah!
