Standout Spartan: Susan Sanford

Middle School theatre teacher Susan Sanford spends a lot of time behind the scenes on Steward's productions, but recently she's been gaining a lot of notice in front of the curtain. Mrs. Sanford won the Best Actress in a Musical award at the Artsies for her performance in "Grey Gardens." Artsies are awarded at an annual event put on by the Richmond Theatre Critics Circle, and essentially serve as the Tony Awards for local theatre here in Richmond. This is the third year in a row that Mrs. Sanford has received an award at the Artsies—last year she won Best Actress in a Play for her role in "Appropriate," and the year before that she was the Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for "It Shoulda Been You." What a gift to have such an incredible performer mentor our students!
