Student Band Favero To Be Streamed at Music Education Conference

When the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) asked for submissions of student-led small ensemble videos to be streamed at their upcoming state conference, Middle and Upper School instrumental music teacher John McAlister knew right away that he had a specific performance in mind.

Student-led jazz combo Favero — guitarist Alex Kight '20, drummer Josh Stein '21, bassist Hailey Wharram '21, and saxophonist Matthew Wilson '21 — had previously recorded a rendition of Jaco Pastorius' "The Chicken" for last year's Virtual Talent Night. This week, Mr. McAlister received news that the VMEA is planning to stream Favero's video at their state conference this weekend. Congratulations to this group of musicians! We know attendees of the conference will be as impressed with Favero as we are. Watch the video below!
