Standout Spartans: Alaina Jefferson '22 and Wit Moore '22

These Spartans are dedicated to helping others.
Under the guidance of English Teacher Stephanie Arnold, and in conjunction with their work as National Honor Society leaders, Alaina Jefferson ’22 and Wit Moore ’22 implemented a donation drive for Afghan refugees relocating to Virginia. They were inspired to coordinate the drive because it “shows the real-time effects that our efforts have on people in our own community,” said Alaina.

Wit, a member of the Chess Club, co-president of the Debate Club, president of the National Honor Society, and captain of the Varsity Soccer team, said, “It means a ton to give back in whatever way we can because these refugees have to orient themselves to a completely new life, and helping them into our community in any way is important to me.”

“What I love most about being a member of the Steward community is the constant willingness to help other people,” said Alaina, a member of the Varsity Girls Basketball team, vice president of the National Honors Society, co-president of the Diversity Club, and an Admissions Ambassador. “There is such an emphasis on service and community building, and it has been such a joy to be part of this experience for over 12 years.”

The supply drive runs through September 30. Join our Standout Spartans and donate items that are most needed. Donation boxes are located at the entrances to the Middle School and Upper School.
