Standout Spartan: Morgan Smartt '25

This Spartan recently placed third in a national art contest.
Morgan Smartt ’25 feels right at home at The Steward School.

“This is my first year here,” says Morgan, a freshman. “I love the community. I love the clubs and inclusivity, and I'm really thankful to have made good friends.” Morgan is a member of the Film Club and Genders & Sexualities Alliance and manages the junior varsity volleyball team.

Morgan recently placed third in a national art contest held by The White House Historical Association. The contest theme was “The White House: An American Story,” and submissions were received from students across the nation. Morgan’s drawing depicts the artwork of three artists who have their work on display in the White House.

“My art/science teacher from my former school told me about the competition,” says Morgan, who watched the announcement of the winners online. “I sat there with my mom, and I saw my name on the screen. I had won 3rd place nationally! I am so thankful that my teacher encouraged me to enter.” A few weeks later, Morgan traveled to D.C. to see the artwork on display. “It was amazing to see it! It was worth the trip,” says Morgan.
