Standout Spartan: Victor Fox '22

Creativity sparks imagination and innovation
You might say that Victor Fox gets a charge out of creating things. The senior — an Eagle Scout with an eye toward helping others — recently created a solar-powered cart that will serve as a teaching tool and charging station for Spartans across campus.

“The original idea for the cart came about after a discussion with Ms. [Cary] Jamison, the former head of the Bryan Innovation Lab, as an option for an Eagle Project,” explains Victor, who has been a member of the Boy Scouts for many years.

The cart is designed to be used in two ways. It will function as a teaching aid for Lower Schoolers learning about solar power, and Middle School and Upper School students will use the cart as a charging station for their phones, laptops, and other devices. Students will begin putting the cart to use in the coming weeks.

"Victor’s solar cart project is right in line with the type of work we encourage at the Bryan Lab," says Megan Young, program coordinator at the BIL. "It is a perfect example of how technology can innovate for a better world. We are so grateful to Victor and are excited to see how this project is utilized on campus."

A member of the Model UN Club, History Club, and Robotics Club, Victor says the best part about being a Spartan is Steward’s size. "I thrive in smaller-scale environments, so Steward is a great fit for me," he says.
