An essay written by Nadine Odibo ’26 will soon be entered into a state competition! Nadine’s essay, which she originally wrote for a writing contest at Steward (which she won), is about her mother, who is from Nigeria and who moved to the U.S. when she was 21 years old. In February, Nadine’s essay won the Hanover Post of the American Legion’s regional contest, and it won the district contest held in April in Richmond. Her essay will now go on to the state competition, which will be held this summer in Norfolk.
“I’m absolutely ecstatic and feel incredibly blessed by the recognition,” said Nadine. “I really began liking writing in the fourth grade … I have always liked being able to paint a story with words.”
