Victor Fox ’22 has been conducting original research for the past year in conjunction with the Dean's Early Research Initiative (DERI) at Virginia Commonwealth University. His project centered on developing a new method for measuring VCU’s TMS brain phantom. TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a therapy used to treat mental or neurological issues, and brain phantoms are artificial brain analogues. Victor’s VCU faculty advisor developed a new brain phantom, and Victor worked on developing a new method of measuring the effect of TMS coils (which are used to deliver TMS) on the phantom. At the DERI program’s year-end symposium, Victor presented his research to other DERI fellows and to faculty.
“It was very neat to be at VCU and to cap off a year of intense research,” said Victor, who will study mechanical engineering at Auburn University.
