Standout Spartan: Gates Orgain '24

Congratulations to Gates Orgain ’24, who has been training in several areas as he sets his sights on becoming an EMS provider and licensed EMT. Gates was recently certified in CPR, the National Incident Management System, and HIPPA, and in January he’ll begin EMT training, with the goal of becoming an EMT before he graduates from Steward.

“My cousins, Peter Orgain ’18 and John Orgain ’18, both of whom are firefighters, inspired and encouraged me to go down this path,” said Gates. “Their hard work and dedication challenge me to their standards!”

At Steward, Gates serves as president of the Chess Club and is a member of the varsity soccer and lacrosse teams. 

“The best part of being a Spartan is both Chef Anton’s food and seeing my siblings Tayloe ’36, Henry ’34, and Andy ’24 along the Colonnade,” said Gates. “At Steward, we are a family, and literally almost all of my family is with me on campus. When I’ve made a mistake, my mom [Middle School Mathematics Teacher Corbain Orgain ’96] knows before I’d like her to, but I always know I’m loved and supported.”
