Standout Spartan: Gideon Grandis-McConnell '24

The Steward School
Spartan is lauded for her artistic talent
Congratulations to Gideon Grandis-McConnell '24, who won a Silver Key award from Scholastic Art and Writing for "Squid Vineyard," a digital piece in the style of surrealism. The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is the nation's longest-running educational initiative supporting student achievement in the visual and literary arts. Silver Keys are awarded for distinguished work demonstrating achievement at the regional level.

Gideon also received an Honorable Mention for "Stone Blues," an abstract digital self-portrait. A member of Steward’s Creative Writing club, she said, "I am surprised to get a Silver Key, and honored to know that my art got so far. I'll have to do even better next year!" An exhibit of Gold and Silver Key artwork will take place at The Visual Arts Center of Richmond (1812 West Main St.) from February 3-20. Way to go, Gideon!
