Students problem-solve at annual conference
On March 17-18, 38 Middle and Upper School students attended the 25th annual Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Model United Nations Conference. Model UN is an educational simulation in which students learn about international relations and the United Nations. At a Model UN conference, students take on the roles of delegates to create solutions to complex world problems. Eight of our Spartans won awards for their work:

Julia Rhamy ’26: Verbal Commendation, Star Wars
Claire Heaton ’24: Verbal Commendation, Turkish War of Independence
Nadine Odibo ’26: Honorable Mention, Fashion Industry Commission
Henry Pietrantoni ’28 and Juliet Forlano ’28: Outstanding Delegate, United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP)
Ana Reveles Leon ’24: Outstanding Delegate, The Roaring 20s
Jack Herron ’24: Outstanding Delegate, Xinhai Revolution
Emma Herzog ’24: Best Delegate, Xinhai Revolution

Upper School Social Studies Teachers Sarah Dwelle and Eliza McGehee serve as faculty advisors for Steward’s Model UN students. Congratulations, Spartans!
