Other Ways to Give

Explore your different options for supporting Steward students.

Cash Gifts

Cash gifts are the simplest and easiest gifts you can make, whether through credit/debit card transactions, outright cash, or personal checks made payable to The Steward School. Your bank can even set up automatic monthly payments to make giving easier.

Matching Gifts

Many gifts to Steward can be doubled, or even tripled, because many employers match gifts made to non-profit organizations by their employees and retirees. To learn if your company matches gifts, click here.

Gifts of Securities

Gifts of securities offer significant tax advantages to the donor. By making a gift of this type, the donor can take a tax deduction for the full market value of the securities, while avoiding capital gains taxes. This is an easy way to make a philanthropic contribution that benefits the school and the donor.

Stock Transfer Instructions

You may gift securities that you hold directly to The Steward School. Securities may be transferred electronically to Davenport and Company, LLC (DTC #0715); Attention of Mary Claire Motley at (804) 780-2103, and The Steward School Account #8075-8425. As a reminder, gifts to The Steward School, a 501(c)(3) organization, are tax-deductible as permitted by law. No goods or services will be provided to the donor as a result of their gift. Prior to making your gift, please notify Shawn Morrison in The Steward School Development Office at (804) 565-2306 or Shawn.Morrison@stewardschool.org.

Gifts In-Kind

In-kind gifts are contributions of tangible items that the school would otherwise have to purchase. Examples of in-kind gifts donated to Steward recently include valuable works of art, printers, athletic equipment and uniforms, photography equipment, and other school supplies.

Planned Gifts

Some donors wish to make deferred gifts in their estate plans or philanthropic gifts that may provide tax reduction opportunities. These gifts are referred to as “planned giving.” The Development Office has a complete planned giving brochure which can be provided upon request.

Donor Advised Funds

A donor advised fund is similar to a charitable savings account. Donor advised funds give you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is distributed to Steward. They can provide tax benefits at the time you contribute to the fund, allow for a centralized giving account, and provide you and your family with a way to recommend gifts without the extra complexities of a private foundation.

Charitable IRA Rollover

Charitable IRA Rollover allows individuals age 70½ and older to make direct transfers of up to a set limit from individual retirement accounts to qualified charities without having to count the transfers as income for federal tax purposes.

*For more information on the tax or estate planning implications of your giving, consult your financial planner or tax professional.

For more information on any of these giving methods or to discuss other giving options, please contact the Development Office at (804) 565-2306.
