On May 18, USA Basketball announced the names of the 55 athletes invited to participate in the 2023 USA Women’s U16 National Team trials at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Congratulations to Sanai Green ’26, who is among these superstar athletes!
Steward’s Assistant Director of Athletics Kara Bacile, who coaches the Spartan girls varsity basketball team, said, “Sanai is a top recruit nationally in the Class of 2026. To be invited to try out for the U16 Women’s National team as a member of the Class of 2026 shows how much her ability is respected at the national level. Due to an injury, Sanai will be unable to participate in this year’s trials, but to be invited speaks volumes about her potential, and we hope she will get another opportunity to showcase her abilities in years to come.”
As a freshman, Sanai averaged 20 points per game and 9 rebounds per game for the Spartans, who finished 23-10 overall.
Trials run from May 25, with the final 12-member roster expected to be announced on May 30. The team will travel to Mérida, Mexico for the FIBA U16 Women’s Americas Championship from June 13-19. Way to go, Sanai!
