About Whirled Peace Day

The Steward School is proud to partner with SCAN this year for “Whirled” Peace Day on September 18th. Greater Richmond Scan was founded in 1991 to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect in the city of Richmond and surrounding counties. Usually on that day the school picks an agency to help them with their mission. Usually it has been a coin drive. In light of the situation this year with counting and sorting all of the money we decided it is best not to collect coins. We of course wanted to still be good Stewards so we decided to collect art supplies. We are going to compile bags of supplies that the staff can hand out during the help sessions and also to take home. We have divided the school into sections so that we can supply the agency with a variety of different supplies.

Please bring your supplies into school the week leading up to “Whirled” Peace Day on September 18th:

  • JK and K: boxes of crayons
  • Grades 1 and 2: colored pencils
  • Grades 3 and 4: packets of stickers with gentle pictures
  • Grade 5: watercolor paints with 8 colors
  • Grade 6: glue sticks
  • Grade 7: bottles of glitter glue
  • Grade 8: boxes of # 2 pencils
  • Upper School: coloring books
On Friday, please visit this page where we will livestream a virtual Whirled Peace Day celebration featuring special choral and musical performances, a guest speaker, and the traditional pinwheel planting. We are so glad to be able to keep this tradition going!
