About Whirled Peace Day

Past Event Details
On September 21, 2021 The Steward School will celebrate Whirled Peace Day – an annual event loved by all. Students in Middle School and Upper School art classes, as well as all Lower School students, will each create a pinwheel (a symbol of peace). During Community Time on September 21, students will gather outside to “plant” their pinwheels and join in songs that celebrate peace.

Each year for Whirled Peace Day, the Steward community partners with an organization. In the past, Steward has collaborated with Richmond Children’s Hospital, Henrico Police and Fire, the James River Foundation, and other organizations.

This year, we will partner with Anna Julia Cooper Episcopal School, and the money we raise on Whirled Peace Day will help fund libraries in the elementary classrooms at the School.

Anna Julia Cooper Episcopal School is an independent, faith-based school providing full-tuition scholarships to 2nd – 8th grade students of limited economic resources primarily from Richmond’s East End.
