Standout Spartan: Sean O'Reilly

The Steward School
A musician at heart
Music is a big part of Middle School Technology Facilitator Sean O’Reilly’s life.

“I love being on stage and performing with close friends,” he shared. “It’s often a time for me to forget everything that is stressing me out and let loose a little. It is why I love playing music so much!”

Since 2022, Mr. O’Reilly has played bass for The Sugar Hollows, a Richmond-based rock band that was formed in 2020. The band’s first singles, “Follow the River” and “Sweet Virginia Girl,” were released in 2022, and their self-titled debut album, which included 10 songs, came out in 2023. The Sugar Hollows have played gigs throughout Virginia and North Carolina, playing originals and covers of Jim Croce, Brent Cobb, Lord Huron, Kings of Leon, and everything in between. The band’s most recent album, “Radio Waves,” was released in May 2024. It includes another 10 original songs and further defines their sound.

The Sugar Hollows’ most recent gig took place as part of the Shockoe Sessions Live.

“It was a great show,” said Mr. O’Reilly. “I invite the Steward community to join us at Dominion Energy’s RiverRock this Saturday (May 17). The Sugar Hollows will be playing at 3:10 p.m., and I’d love to see some Spartans in the crowd!”
