  • School Security Officer

    Pay: from $25 per hour

    The Steward School, in collaboration with its security company, ASG, is seeking qualified candidates to provide armed security services. The employee will work at The Steward School campus and be employed by ASG. We are seeking candidates who want to be part of a vibrant school community and enjoy being around students.

    The candidates will be responsible for daily security patrols and for providing a visible deterrent in a school environment. They will conduct foot patrols routinely and have close interactions with the school administration and students in JK-12 grades.

    Preferred candidates should have been (within the last 10 years) a. an active law-enforcement officer as defined in § 9.1-101in the Commonwealth or b. employed by a law-enforcement agency of the United States or any state or political subdivision thereof (and their duties were substantially similar to those of a law-enforcement officer as defined in § 9.1-101), and retired or resigned from their position as a law-enforcement officer in good standing.

    Required:

    School Security Officer "SSO" Certification; Campus Safety certification and/or School Resource Officer certification (this training/certification will be provided and paid for if you currently do not have it.)
    Minimum of 5+ years related experience.
    Valid VA DCJS armed registration is required (training provided and paid for if necessary).

    Hours will vary based on the time of the school year, but are generally:
    Full-time: summer months: M-F 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
    Full-time: school year: M-F 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Summer Experience runs from May 15, 2026, through August 28, 2026, with camp hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and extended day care until 6 p.m. Multiple positions available.
