    Steward's costume committee invites all parents and guardians to its first meeting of the school year! The meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 8, at 12:15 p.m. in Room 356 in the Paul R. Cramer Center for the Arts. Learn about this fun, friendly committee, its purpose, and how you can help! No sewing experience is required. We’d love your help creating costumes for the Lower School Winter Program in December and the Lower School Grandparents Day in May. The deadline to purchase tickets is TODAY (Friday, October 3). Reunion class gatherings will also take place throughout Homecoming Weekend.

    SpartaFest is hosted by the Parents Association and is open to all. Join us for games, activities, and community fun, rain or shine! Skip the lines and register today. When you register, you can also pre-purchase all-you-can-bounce wristbands for kids ages 4-eighth grade, a pumpkin for $8 ($10 at the event), and pizza. 
     
    SpartaFest highlights include:
    • Sparty’s Closet, a collection of gently loved Steward gear. Choose what suits your Spartan; a donation of any amount is appreciated.
    • Car Show: We’ve got it all: fancy sports cars, BIG trucks, wraps, oldies but goodies … check out these rides in the bus parking lot!
    • Vendor Market: crafts, cool jewelry, and handmade items
    • Band and choir performances, a game truck, a rock climbing wall, a ride-on firetruck, hairspray fun, food and ice cream trucks, and more

    Volunteer at SpartaFest
    Lots of hands are needed to make this event successful. Volunteer today. There are lots of ways for parents, students, grandparents, and friends to get involved. We need bounce volunteers, chili cook-off entrants, and baked goods (homemade or store-bought).

    This year’s SpartaFest will be better than ever! Our Chili Cook-Off is entering its third year. Who knew there were so many ways to make great chili? Register today. Plus, our signature car show is not to be missed. It’s not just fancy cars; it’s fun trucks, cool wraps, unique oldies, and more. Enter your car today. Space is limited. Don’t forget to register for SpartaFest. Avoid the lines at the event and get your K-8 student registered to bounce the day away with an all-you-can-play wristband. You can also pre-purchase pumpkins to decorate … only $8!

    US Homecoming Dance

    The Upper School Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 11, from 7:30-10 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Gym. Students must arrive by 8 p.m. and stay until 9:30 p.m. unless they have parental permission to leave. The dance is semi-formal (coat and tie; dresses). Tickets are $10 and may be purchased online only. If students have a guest from another school, they need to sign up that guest in Mr. Mundy’s office and fill out the Guest Registration Form. The form is due by Thursday, October 9.

    This program features Head of School Dan Frank as well as a guided tour of campus. 

    The program will take place on October 16 at 9 a.m. In advance of the event, a member from the admissions team will be in touch with more information. 

    Pre-registration is required and is limited to two adults per family to maintain capacity limits (no students, please).

    "The Wild Robot" Movie Afternoon

    The Steward community is invited to a free showing of “The Wild Robot” on October 23 in the Bryan Innovation Lab. Students and parents, come to the Bryan Lab at 3:20 p.m. to enjoy a themed activity, robots (!), snacks, and fun on the patio before the movie, which begins at 4 p.m. Thank you to our libraries, the Bryan Lab, and Nature Play School for collaborating on this fun, free event!     NHS Induction Ceremony

    Newbery Medal-winning author and former National Children’s Literature Ambassador Meg Medina will visit grades 5-8 on October 29 during community time. Ms. Medina, most known for her trilogy “Merci Suarez Changes Gears,” will chat with students about her background as a professional writer. Signed, personalized copies of her latest book, “Graciela in the Abyss,” are available for purchase from local bookstore bbgb. Order by October 15 to have your book(s) delivered to Steward!
