The Steward School is proud to announce that it has earned Platinum recognition on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll. This distinction recognizes schools that have done outstanding work to welcome more students into AP courses and support them on the path to college success. Steward was one of only
eight percent of eligible high schools to receive the Platinum distinction. This honor aligns with Steward’s commitment to providing a challenging curriculum and to the school’s
core value of academic achievement.
To earn Platinum status, Steward fulfilled the following criteria:
*expanded its culture by enabling 80% of the Class of 2025 to experience one AP course before graduating;
*assisted with college affordability by enabling 50% of the Class of 2025 to earn college credit by earning an AP Exam score of 3; and
*optimized students’ college readiness by creating opportunities for 15% of the Class of 2025 to take a total of 5 APs across their high school years, with at least 1 taken in ninth or tenth grade.
College-Level Work
Director of
College Counseling Heather Jeter said, “AP courses have a broader impact beyond college credit. They challenge students and encourage them to dig deeper. In addition, research indicates that students who enter four-year colleges with credit from AP accelerate their path to graduation and build confidence for college success. And even for those who don’t earn college credit, AP coursework gives students exposure to college-level work.”
Steward currently offers 16 AP courses; one course is available to sophomores, while the remaining courses are available for juniors and seniors. At Steward, all AP students sit for AP exams in May. Depending on the score they earn and the policy of the college they plan to attend, some students receive college credit for their AP scores.
The AP Honor Roll distinction further strengthens the school’s mission of preparing students for college and for life.
Ms. Jeter said, “This is an exceptional milestone — one that is the result of a schoolwide effort from faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and students.”
