Recognizing Steward's Greatest

Outstanding Spartans

The Steward School Alumni Achievement Award is given each year to recognize an outstanding member of the alumni community who continues to live out the Steward mission through inspiration, engagement, or care of others. Recipients will have had a transformative effect in the community, within a chosen profession, or on families.

This tradition was born at The Steward School’s annual Convocation ceremony on September 4, 2014. Alumnus Parke Smith '01 received the first-ever Alumni Achievement Award and served as the ceremony’s keynote speaker.

Alumni Achievement Award Nomination Information
- The Steward School Alumni Achievement Award nomination form must be used in nominating an individual.
- The nominee must be a graduate of The Steward School.
- The nominator must provide current contact information of the nominee or his/her closest living relative or friend. Posthumous nominations will be considered.
- Nominations will not be made public.
- Nominations can be submitted via the online form or by mail to the Alumni Achievement Award Selection Committee via The Steward School Development Office, 11600 Gayton Road, Henrico, VA 23238.
- Nominees will be contacted to give consent for consideration and verify data on nomination form.
- Nominees, should they accept their nomination, will be requested to provide a photo, resume, and short bio in addition to selecting someone to introduce them at the Convocation event (teacher, family member, classmate, etc.).
- All nominations and corresponding materials will become the property of The Steward School. Nominations will not be returned to the nominator, reprinted for the nominee, or otherwise distributed.
- The honoree will be formally recognized at opening Convocation and an alumni reception each year. During Convocation, the honoree is asked to speak to the school community.
- The honoree will receive two complimentary tickets to the Alumni Association Trucks & Shucks event and other special invitations throughout the year.
- Information about the honoree will be shared with the media, on The Steward School’s website, and other publications.
