Congratulations to Abby Hendrick ’31, who recently received the 12-and-under Virginia Swimming Competitive Spirit Award at NOVA of Virginia Aquatics.

Abby said proudly that she and her NOVA swim-friends group “have been together since we were nine years old.” Abby especially loves swimming the 200 butterfly; her favorite stroke is freestyle, and her favorite distance is the 1650. She said she was shocked (and happy!) to receive the spirit award.

At Steward, Abby is a member of the Yap and Snacks Club and the Steward swim team. For the past couple of years, she has sold her charming, handmade crocheted items (Abby’s Crochet Creations) at SpartaFest. She also volunteers as a Spartan Counselor Apprentice during Steward’s Summer Experience program and said, “The best part about being a Spartan is the community. We have a tight-knit community, and I have been friends with several girls since kindergarten!”
