Standout Spartan: Naiim Byrd '26

The Steward School
A Spartan through and through
Congratulations to Naiim Byrd ’26, who was recently featured in an article published by UP RVA. UP RVA prepares high-achieving students from Richmond’s East End for success at independent schools, college, and beyond. In the article, Naiim was asked about his favorite subjects in school, his extracurriculars, and what he likes most about Steward.

Being highlighted on the UP RVA site “feels like I’ve unlocked a new chapter in my life, overflowing with endless possibilities and exciting adventures waiting to unfold,” said Naiim. “The thrill of sharing my journey with others fills me with energy and motivation, reminding me that every achievement is just the beginning of something even greater.”

Naiim, who started at Steward in his freshman year, vividly remembers his first impression of the school.

“The community surrounding me truly embraced me,” he said. “I felt recognized not just as a student, but as a friend and an individual.” Naiim is a Spartan through and through: He’s a member of the Entrepreneurship Studies program, the Black Student Alliance, the Men Pursuing Purpose and Passion club, and the Impact Club. He also plays for the lacrosse and basketball teams.

“The best aspect of being a Spartan is having an active community and the opportunity to engage in academic challenges that will prepare me for future success,” said Naiim. He added, “I’d like to give a big thank you to my superheroes, my Ma and Pops!”
