Athlete's 5k PR places him third in the nation in his age group
Seventh-grader Everette Rostocil ’32 loves to lace up and run! He has been running in cross-country meets for nearly two years, both at Steward and as a member of a non-school team. Everette’s current 5k (3.1 miles) PR is 19:43.70, which places him third in the entire nation for cross-country runners his age! When training at Steward, Everette usually runs 10-15 miles a week on average, and in the summer, he puts in 4-6 miles every weekday.
Everette said, “What I most enjoy about running cross-country is the environment of the sport itself. It is really positive and welcoming, and it can be a place for anyone who runs competitively or is just running for fun.”
On October 24, Everette will compete in a 4k (2.5 miles) at the Virginia State Championship at Pole Green Park. He added, “On October 28, I have my last meet of the Spartan season at Collegiate for a 5k race, which I am really excited for.”
When he isn’t running, Everette enjoys being a member of Steward’s Dungeons and Dragons club and spending time with his friends.
“The best thing about being a Spartan is the opportunities I have to try new things and get out of my comfort zone,” he said.
