Jordan Solomon ’26 Honored as National Merit Scholarship Finalist

Scores place him in the top 1.15% of PSAT test-takers
Every year, more than one million high school juniors take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in preparation for their college applications.
Senior Jordan Solomon ’26 is among an elite group of top test-takers who have been named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. There are only 15,000 finalists nationwide, or about 1% of all test-takers. Finalists are chosen based on their abilities, skills, and accomplishments. From March to mid-June, approximately 7,500 students will be selected to receive a scholarship award, which includes National Merit Scholarships as well as corporate- and college-sponsored scholarships.
As a finalist, Jordan will be included in a national publication that is distributed to all high schools. The honor will also shine on his college applications.
“We are so proud of Jordan’s National Merit Finalist recognition,” said Heather Jeter, director of college counseling. “He is a voracious consumer of knowledge and an incredibly novel, innovative, and deep thinker. Surely, this is just the beginning of a long line of academic accolades Jordan will receive in the years to come.”
In addition to academics, Jordan has shone in the arts during his time at Steward. He will play Shrek in the upcoming spring musical, and was recently named to the All Virginia Choir for the third time in four years. He is also on the Honor Roll for his excellent grades.
