Standout Spartan: Heidi Taylor

The Steward School
Choral teacher invited to sing National Anthem
At the May 16 Virginia Military Signing Day, Middle/Upper School Choral Music Teacher Heidi Taylor sang a heartfelt rendition of the National Anthem. Hosted by the Virginia War Memorial, the event celebrates high school enlistees who have committed to serving in the U.S. military.

This was the second year in a row that Ms. Taylor was invited to sing at the event.

“I was proud to represent Steward and it’s fun to be the one singing sometimes, too,” she said. “This is a very special event, and seeing the young women and men who are committing to serve our country makes me proud. Seeing them there with their loved ones also makes me emotional. The chance to sing the National Anthem is always a gift.”

Ms. Taylor is gearing up for an exciting summer. She will serve as musical director for “Legally Blonde” with the theatre arts company arts to ALL. The show runs from June 30-August 3.

Rafi Zepeda ’26 and Jordan Solomon ’26 will be part of the production,” she said. “I am also hosting two Summer Experience camps at Steward June 16-20: A Star is Born and My Musical Life. I’m looking forward to a great summer!”
