Please join us for an afternoon professional development workshop for Steward faculty and local educators led by Angela Hanscom. Ms. Hanscom is a pediatric occupational therapist and founder of TimberNook, a research-backed, nature-based outdoor play program for children. She is the author of “Balanced & Barefoot: How Unrestricted Outdoor Play Makes for Strong, Confident, and Capable Children.”
Ms. Hanscom's talks help educators better understand how movement, risk-taking, and nature support children’s physical regulation, attention, resilience, and emotional well-being. Educators can expect concrete examples, accessible neuroscience, and immediately applicable ideas for rethinking recess, outdoor spaces, and daily routines—supporting students’ learning and behavior while also reducing stress and burnout for teachers.
Local educators are invited to register below by February 6.
