Rebecca Hoffmann

Director of Admissions

Rebecca Hoffmann joined The Steward School in 2019 as the director of admissions. She holds a BA in Education and Psychology and an M.Ed., both from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Prior to joining the Steward community, Rebecca has worked in counseling, admissions, and administration at other independent schools in Virginia, as well as in admissions at the collegiate level. Rebecca and her husband, Joe, have two children who attend Steward.

Jane Carter

Associate Director of Admissions, Lower School

Jane Carter joined The Steward School in 2007. Her responsibilities have included substituting in the Lower School and working part-time in the Admissions Office. In 2009, Jane joined the Admissions staff full time. She has a B.A. in Political Science and History from Belmont Abbey College and a M.Ed. from Queens University. Prior to Steward, Jane taught sixth grade English and history in Charlotte, North Carolina. She and her husband, Tim, have three children; all of whom are Steward alumni.

Beth Farmer-Smith

Assistant Director of Admissions, Middle and Upper Schools

Beth Farmer-Smith ’09 is Steward’s Assistant Director of Admissions and Middle School girls field hockey and soccer coach. She attended Steward for Middle and Upper School and graduated in 2009. She then graduated from James Madison University in 2013 with a Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication major.


Bobbie Fass

Admissions Assistant

Bobbie and her family joined The Steward School community in 2013 when they relocated from Maryland. Previously, Bobbie worked as the Assistant to the Director of Admissions at Gerstell Academy. Since arriving at Steward, she has shared her time volunteering on various committees and is currently the Chair of the Ray Tate Spartan Golf Classic. She studied Business Administration at Towson University. In 2019, Bobbie became a part of the Steward Admissions team as an Admissions Assistant.
