Frequently Asked Questions

Learn the answers to your most asked questions regarding development.

What is the Annual Fund?

The school strives to minimize tuition, which covers the basic costs for operating a successful school. Each year, all members of our community (parents, faculty, staff, trustees, alumni, grandparents and friends) are asked to make a tax-deductible gift to Steward. Contributions to the Annual Fund directly benefit our students and faculty while enhancing the school’s programs. For example, your investment in the Annual Fund impacts our students by providing uniforms for athletes, easels for the art program, books for the classrooms, and technology tools for the Bryan Innovation Lab.

Why doesn’t Steward simply raise tuition?

We strongly believe that Steward is enhanced by attracting exceptional students and by engaging students who represent diverse cultural and socio-economic groups in our community. Keeping the cost of tuition as affordable as possible ensures a Steward education is within reach of more families. Additionally, Annual Fund donations are tax-deductible, while tuition is not.

Why is my participation important?

While we rely on the generosity of leadership gifts, please know that every gift –no matter the amount– is needed and important. We truly value participation in the Annual Fund. At any level, participation demonstrates your commitment to The Steward School. Your contribution generates enthusiasm and encourages others to join you in celebrating and supporting Steward.

Also, foundations and corporations view fundraising participation as a key benchmark of institutional strength. Before these organizations will consider donating their dollars to The Steward School, they want to know that the Steward community believes in and supports the school’s mission.

Can I designate my gift for a specific purpose?

Yes! We encourage you to direct your gift to a program that is meaningful to you. Whether you’re passionate about the arts, technology, or something in between, you can match your philanthropic priority to an area of interest within The Steward School Annual Fund that accomplishes your objectives. Gifts may also be pledged monthly, quarterly, or in one single payment. The Annual Fund runs on the school’s fiscal year calendar starting on July 1 and closing on June 30.

Steward Voices

Steward helped me develop the skills I needed to succeed in college and the courage and confidence to set competitive career goals for myself. But, these skills weren’t lessons I learned just in Steward’s classrooms; they came from the athletic fields, in the hallways, and during Honor Council meetings, too.
