Teachers attend conference on reimagining mathematics
Upper School Mathematics Teachers Barbara Filler and Scottie O’Neill, board members for the Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics (VCTM), attended the annual VCTM Conference recently at George Mason University. This year’s conference theme was “Reimagining Mathematics,” and conference strands included a variety of topics: culturally responsive teaching, data science, and innovative math teaching practices.
They attended many sessions that they are excited to share with the Steward mathematics community that will ultimately benefit students in the classroom. Ms. O’Neill stated, “The ideas, best practices, contacts, and tools I gained from this conference will help meet the needs of each of my students better.” Mrs. Filler added, “We also appreciate the School's support. Our conference attendance is an investment in our students.”
