Over the weekend, Laya Koder '21 competed at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) spring conference, a state-level competition held at Old Dominion University. Each participant was required to sing three classical pieces—two in a foreign language and one in English. She was judged by three vocal teachers on tone, breathing/alignment, language/diction, musicianship, artistry, and expression. Laya received a score of 96/100 in the Classical Division and advances to the Regional Mid-Atlantic competition at the University of South Carolina next month. Great work, Laya!
