Student's artwork will be published in a Spanish-language journal
Congratulations to Kate Reed ’24, whose digital art, titled Lo que no se ve, was chosen among thousands of submissions nationally to be published in the next issue of “Albricias,” the Hispanic Honor Society Journal.
The title of the artwork translates to “What We Don't See in English.” Kate’s digital painting “is meant to represent the parts of daily life not usually visible to or celebrated by tourism,” she explained. “I've always loved art, but I got more serious about making it in Middle School, and got into digital art around 2020.” Kate was thrilled when she found out her art had been chosen for “Albricias.” She said, “It’s such a huge honor to be chosen out of thousands of other submissions.”
A member of Steward's Creative Writing Club, Kate also writes for Steward Ink, the School’s student-run newspaper, and she is a member of the Honors Spanish Society.
Update: Kate's artwork won first place in the Art category and is featured on the cover of the March 2023 issue of Albricias! Kate was also awarded a $250 prize.
