The Steward School
Join us for this exciting public event.
On March 25 at 4 p.m. in the Bryan Innovation Lab, Visiting Innovator Tony Weaver, Jr. will present a public keynote address, “You are a Superhero!” Mr. Weaver, a comic writer, educator, and storyteller, founded Weird Enough Productions to empower students with social responsibility and positive representation. He is also the creator of the WEBTOON Original series “The UnCommons” and author of “Weirdo,” a graphic novel memoir about a preteen who loves all things geeky and struggles with mental health issues. This event is free and open to the public.

Mr. Weaver, who was the first comic writer selected for the Forbes “30 Under 30,” was named a History Shaker by Coca-Cola and a Champion for Change by CNN. He has also given inspiring TED talks, including “Why the World Needs Superheroes Who Look Different.”

Brad Kovach, Bryan Innovation Lab Dean, said, “Tony is an extremely creative and passionate guy who really connects with students. In his inimitable, enthusiastic style, he shares with young people the importance of being seen and valued. His energy and creativity are unmatched, and we are so excited that he’ll be sharing time with the community. This event is not to be missed!”

During the school day on March 25, Middle and Upper Schoolers will gather for a talk by Mr. Weaver, and Lower Schoolers will team up with him and a group of local innovators for fun, superhero-centric activities!

The Bryan Innovation Lab is located on the campus of The Steward School (11600 Gayton Road, Richmond, Va. 23238). There is plenty of free parking adjacent to the Bryan Innovation Lab. Directions to The Steward School
